Fasten your seatbelts! Michael Mann’s high-octane biopic at downtown’s Robinson Film Center opens January 5th. The film, set in the summer of 1957, depicts Enzo Ferrari’s auto empire in crisis. His plan to save it puts everything on the line with the roll of the dice on one race – 1,000 miles across Italy. Kyle Smith of the Wall Street Journal, says “…the movie combines the gravitas of an indie with the high stakes of a studio picture.” For Ferrari show times, click here.
Fans of Robinson Film Center will also be excited to learn that renovation on its Abby Singer’s Bistro kicked off on January 2nd . Updated lighting, furniture, painting, and decor will give the popular restaurant it’s first new “happy” face since the facility opened fifteen years ago. The project is expected to take several weeks with completion anticipated in February. RFC’s Executive Director, Wendell Riley, said “We are very excited about this project. We have been planning it for some time.” Riley said the support of the Downtown Development Authority, The Beaird Family Foundation, Mike McSwain Architect, Fusiform Design Workshop, RFC Board of Directors, and sponsors who gave during Give for Good have made the renovation possible.
A grand reopening should be announced soon. For updates visit the Abby Singer’s and Robinson Film Center Facebook pages, also on Instagram or their website here.
